Doesn’t it sound clever? 1) It’s a combo of fiction and Pictionary, 2) It’s an f-word
I can use in front of my kids.
So, I thought I made up a cool new game. Did I mention I’ve got a bad case of
writer’s block? Then I looked it up. It already exists, and it’s some kind
of word game where players try to guess the definition of an obscure word. Scripps
Spelling Bee contestants take note this could help you prepare! Sorry, I am so
off topic. What was I saying?
Anyway, the other totally
true definition I found on the web is “lists
of amusing fictional words or fictional definitions.” Blah, blah, blah!
I need words and I’m about to
make up my own language if my characters don’t start talking to me! They don’t actually
talk to me, except in my head. In my imagination, well, it’s not as crazy as it
sounds. I think.
Right now, I’m
vacillating/swaying/wavering/fluctuating – I can’t find the word, and I’m a
WRITER! I’m wavering, I’ll settle on that one for now, between places and times
and characters. I had a flow, but it’s like the darn thing possessed me and
before I could finish, it up and left me. Argh! It’s so frustrating!
But, I’ll press on. Right after I
delve into the all-too-important news of what’s happening to fall TV. Did you
hear Body of Proof, Go On, Happy Endings, Rules of Engagement, CSI: NY, Vegas
and more are cancelled? I’m really only disappointed in a couple of those cancellations,
but I’ll get over it, somehow.
If you have writer’s block or
just need to blank out for a few minutes, hours or days, why not try TV? Social
media? Speak, face-to-face with your kids and other family members – it happens
way too infrequently these days. Maybe take a walk or volunteer at a soup
kitchen? I’m not kidding. Sometimes doing for others can really set you right.
As a mother who writes – an
exploded diaper, or tantrum is the perfect motivation for heading back into
battling with a blank screen. So, here goes! …….. Nothing……nope….nada! Darn!
How do you deal with tough spots
and blank pages? Please share the details! I want to read your answers. I need something to do other than analyze
fall television schedules, people! I’ll answer your comments, as long as
you aren’t some spammer stalker. Plus, you’ll be doing something nice for a
writer who is just trying to make her way. J
BTW, I still can’t get past this
block. Maybe it’s time for a cookie break~
