When I'm not writing, raising a family, cooking, cleaning, doing a million loads of laundry, or dreaming of a vacation, I am probably reading or watching TV.
So, I get excited when news breaks about books and television shows. It gives me a reason to contemplate ways to get out of cooking and cleaning, so I can enjoy someone else's drama, Nashville anyone?
TV viewers rejoice! There are some interesting new shows coming in 2016, and a few favorites returning. Check our the Yahoo! 2016 Winter TV Preview and plan your schedules accordingly.
Enjoy!

Found this on Yahoo! Looked yummy, so I'll share here. Who wants cheesecake?
Even though it's spring, and the networks recently gutted their schedules, the fall lineup may bring hope. Ken Tucker over at Yahoo gave reviews, and shared clips, for some of Fox's new shows.
I read the descriptions, but only watched The Grinder clip because I love a good lawyer show. Have since I could understand the word lawyer. Plus, who doesn't like the idea of a Rob Lowe and Fred Savage pairing?
Check them out. The rest of the networks are making announcements, so I'll post updates. Enjoy!
Major downer alert. If you liked any TV shows this past season, they may have been cancelled. The networks gave the axe to dozens this week. Here's a link to the shows that just didn't make the numbers.
Here's a Yahoo article about taking parental leave when your kids are teenagers. This piece highlights a study showing the positive impact engaged time both parents had with their kids during adolescence, but I think there's something to be said for engaged time with kids of all ages. Engaged time is what it sounds like, time when parents are directly engaged with their children.
Far too often, I find myself pulled in various directions. There is a benefit to accessible time where you are present, but doing something else. However, I'm letting this serve as a reminder to set aside work, household chores, even phones/tech toys (put them in another room!) to get on my child's level and play more often than ever. If we reinforce these connections while they're young, it might make it easier to navigate the tween/teen years ahead. I hope.
I'm filing this one away, so I can reference it again when needed. You may find it interesting too.

If your summer plans include superheroes, then check this out. I'm a little behind on the Marvel series, but plan to catch up before summer. I also hope to find time to publish my first book chapters, read a half-dozen other books, get outside with the kids, and plan some fun events. Let's hope I can fit all this in before the end of May!
The Vision is revealed in Entertainment Weekly, and this Yahoo brief.

This guy with way too much time on his hands, IMHO, decided to figure out what would happen if he hooked up his 1986 Macintosh to the Internet.
The reason this caught my eye was it sounds ridiculous, but I was curious. As I read the article, this part hit home:
"In other words, Keacher put a ridiculous amount of work into completing a project of questionable utility to achieve a result that delivered an extremely frustrating and subpar user experience. And Keacher is proud to have done it anyway."
Sounds like almost any new or creative endeavor. Although, parts, of these endeavors actually create a worthwhile user experience. Either for the person working on the project, or the end user. I don't think this experiment, or writing a book, is of questionable utility necessarily. So, Mr. Keacher experimented with a really old computer, and I continue to write. We both gain something from the experience, and hopefully, our audience/readers will too.
Find out a bit about what happened here.
See you online again soon!
What Every State in the U.S. is Worst at (from Yahoo!/Thrillist)
Michigan: Worst roads
8 Mile helped put Detroit back on the Hollywood map. Too bad every other mile in the state is as terrible as the Tigers in this year’s playoffs, since Michigan spends the least per capita on its roads and bridges, at $174 per person annually.
Harsh, but true. Find more tough love for the states here.
I've felt a little like this lately: light, dark, stormy, on fast-forward. Check out this incredible time-lapse footage of a Super Storm forming. The crew moves to keep up with the storm, not sure I could do it. Although, it's really cool to watch!
