Happy Earth Day!

Early spring bloom by K. Gibson
It’s nice to see the sun shining on such a cool spring morning. After a week, or more of really sad news (does anyone show good news anymore?) I welcome a celebration of the earth.

If you can help a person smile, plant a tree, or show your family how much they are loved, maybe the good vibes will spread. I mean, it’s pretty hard to smile if you’ve just been cut off in traffic, feel ignored while your parent or partner’s preoccupied with techno gadgets or your boss just laid into you for an honest mistake. So, let’s get this earth turning a little more happily and start spreading some cheer!

If you like to pay it forward. Try your own act of kindness or get inspired by others like Ann Curry’s #26acts. Here’s a link to the project and a few examples of people being good. Now there’s some news!

Feeling green? Plant a tree. If you live somewhere warmer, plant one today! If you’re like me, you’ll have to wait, but don’t let it stop you from shopping. Visit your local garden center to discover what’s new. You can find out what grows well in your “hardiness” zone. Here’s the USDAHardiness zone map. You may even find an indoor plant to make you smile.

If you’re not in the mood, or have the time. Why not try smiling? At yourself in the mirror, which may lead to making funny faces and laughing. Couldn’t hurt, right? Or try smiling at someone on your way to work, at the office or school, or just around the neighborhood. BTW, get outside if you can. Unplugging and experiencing nature on your own, or with loved ones can do wonders!

Wednesday Wisdom

Here's some Wednesday Wisdom...

Though there may be darkness, there is also light.
When times are difficult, let us find strength and move on together.
Hug your family and let them know how much you care.

This may be the smallest blueberry I've ever seen. Sitting atop this highlighter, it inspires me to hope - small things can have a big impact. #BeKind

Perspective

It really does matter. I was ready, hands hovering over the keyboard. Prepared to launch a full-scale rant about my morning. How we ended up at the doctor’s office before even the first cup of coffee, and I realized it doesn’t matter right now. I was about to go on about my problems and I saw the news about the Boston Marathon explosions. Devastating.

Most of the time it helps to write and commiserate with others. Today, I'm just going to hug my kids tight and send thoughts to those hoping to see their kids again.

Here’s a link to track a runner if you’re concerned.

Wednesday Wisdom...

Here's a little something I like to call Wednesday Wisdom. If you're in the mood for a little humor, pick-me-up or sanity check, this is for you.

I saw this on a bumper sticker recently and it made me smile. "What would Scooby Do?"

My guess? He'd run around trying to solve mysteries, jump in Shaggy's arms, have a Scooby snack (or two) and call it a day. Sounds good to me! Although, I'd rather jump in my hubby's arms and have a Root Beer Float-chata. See, doesn't it look better than a dog biscuit?

Will Fox convert to pay-TV?

This hit my radar and it is pretty interesting...Will Fox make good on its threat to stop broadcasting if Aereo continues to swipe Fox's feeds?

Yikes! What about NFL on Fox? :) Maybe another network will scoop up the games and we won't have to pay to see football on Sunday. Although, we'd really like it if we could get the games we really want to see, like in the markets we cheer for, but beggars can't be choosers!

P.S. I remember when Fox was just a pup in the TV biz...my, you've come a long way!

TV ramblings: Nashville, Psych, TNT orders a new crime drama

We're about to watch Nashville and Psych, thank goodness for the DVR! I had a few minutes and was curious about the fate of Happy Endings (funny, but not getting the ratings and they keep changing days), and found out Smash looks done (I occasionally watch, but Debra Messing has signed up with CBS for a comedy pilot and Katharine McPhee has chopped her locks) and the "NCIS" and "NCIS: LA" executive producer has a new Rebecca Romijn and Jon Tenney drama coming in the summer. Looks interesting, find out more at the Hollywood Reporter.

By the way, does anyone else think Deacon's new girlfriend looks a lot like Rayna?
